A Samajwadi Ambulance was cruising Varanasi on 20th May 2016 like any other day. It was at a bridge in Malviya Nagar when the attendants heard some commotion. An old woman had jumped into the river. Passersby were trying to save her but if it wasn’t of the quick thinking of the ambulance attendants, the lady would have lost her life. They immediately went on to rescue her and took her to Shiv Prasad Gupta Mandaliya Hospital.
This incident happened around noon in Varanasi in an extremely busy spot. This event was witnessed by the local fishermen, who immediately went in behind her. The 108 Samajwadi Ambulance was traversing the area and the attendants stopped seeing the buzzing crowd. According to recent reports, the ambulance service announced by chief ministry Akhilesh Yadav in 2012, has benefitted more than 1.5 crore people in the state. It is also the largest fleet of ambulance in India and is available round the clock on toll free number 108 and 102. The woman is seeking treatment at the hospital but her condition is still critical. Social Samajwadi prays for her and admires the bravery of the people of Uttar Pradesh.
