On May 22nd 2016 Akhilesh Yadav the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh flagged of the ‘Sadhbhavna Yatra’ from his residence. This a cultural exchange programme for students between Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. With the focus on promoting unity, brotherhood, and integrity in the society, UPCM launched this pilot project where school children from the state will be visiting J&K
from 22nd to 30th May.

Akhilesh Yadav said, “SP government was spreading the Ganga-Jamuni ‘tehzeeb’ to other parts of the country by opening a window of opportunity for students to interact with people of other states. My government is doing everything to promote unity and integrity in the country. We do not have resources but have ideas on linking one state with the other, culturally.” Senior UP government officials were present at the launching to congratulate and give their wishes to the 35 selected students.

The participants of the ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’ are UP government school students from class 9th to 12th who were selected on the basis of their talent in sports, cultural discipline, and academics. These children will visit the army base and stay with the local people to learn the antics of their state. A cultural troupe is also accompanying these students on the journey and
will perform at a function scheduled in Srinagar.

“I am happy to be a part of this mission. I will learn a lot about Kashmir and we will tell people of Kashmir about specialties of Uttar Pradesh,” Naseeb Jung from Azamgarh said. Social Samajwadi is proud of the youth of Uttar Pradesh and would like to thank the chief minister for providing them with such a platform.

Such initiatives will pave the path for peace and brotherhood in the society.
