To ensure transparency and accountability in Public Distribution System(PDS), CM Akhilesh Yadav along with the chairman of Tata Trusts Ratan Tata recently launched Electronic Point of Supply (e-POS) machine at fair price shops in Uttar Pradesh.

The scheme has been launched to entail a new surveillance system to check large scale leakages in the PDS to guarantee full quota of food grains to ration card holders. It is being implemented in 675 PDS shops of Lucknow and soon would be taken up in rural areas also.

The e-POS machines are linked with Aadhar cards and connected with the database of National Informatics Centre (NIC). The Aadhar-enabled public distribution system (PDS) is a way to check fudging of records at fair price shops. POS is a biometric device that will enable the shop owner to get all the details of the customer.

The e-POS scheme is part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which has been signed between the Uttar Pradesh government and the Tata Trust, spanning their activities in the fields of health, education, solar energy and farming.

“I am very happy to be in Uttar Pradesh. CM Akhilesh Yadav has taken UP much ahead of other states,”  Ratan Tata said during the launch of point of sales (PoS) machines at 667 fair price shops in UP.

“Due to the vision of the progressive CM, electronic system (PoS machine) has been introduced at fair price shops to ensure ration for the poor. It is a privilege to work in UP” he added.

The iconic businessman Rata Tata also said, “Whenever I come to Lucknow I am happy with the progress UP is making, it is now one of the leading states of the country.”

Social Samajwadi is in awe with all the appreciation Uttar Pradesh gathers under CM Akhilesh Yadav’s governance. We also appreciate the young CM’s efforts in bringing rapid digital development across the state.
