In 2012, Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation signed an MoU with Uttar Pradesh government to support various health and development related issues. They have been providing technical, management, and programme design to support the maternal, neonatal and child health, vaccination and other health and agriculture related programmes.

To ensure the smooth functioning of various schemes both Bill and Melinda gates have visited the state in the last 4 years. Gates said the foundation was excited to partner with the state government and assured Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, that they were ‘committed partners on its journey to sustained development’. Under the memorandum, the foundation will provide support through-non-government organisation and other public-private sector partners in multiple areas.

“We appreciated the support provided by BMGF in the sectors of Health, Agriculture and Financial inclusion which in turn will lead to overall development and betterment of the people,” said the overjoyed Digital CM. Very recently, Melinda Gates paid a visit to review the projects of primary and community health interventions taken up by the foundation. She also appreciated Akhilesh Yadav’s projects like 102 and 108 Ambulance services, while paying a visit to rural areas like Kumrawa village in Barabanki.
