Akhilesh Yadav, the young CM of Uttar Pradesh has initiated many schemes and policies for women and their upliftment in the society. From starting a Women Powerline to reserving 50% jobs in the upcoming IT City, he has provided them government’s support for an overall development. On 5th December, 2017 another such announcement was made by the UPCM which restored our faith in humanity. From now on, the state government will give a financial aid of Rs. 20,000 to facilitate the marriage ceremony of young women under ‘Putriyon ki Shaadi Hetu Anudaan’. This amount has been doubled from the previous monetary help of Rs. 10,000.
Under this scheme, a family which is financially weak, belongs to a minority caste, or other backward class will be helped by Akhilesh Government. Money will be deposited in the banks of the needy directly so that there is no hassle for the people. The agenda of this policy is to ensure that no women remains unmarried due to monetary problems and it will also help bring equality in the society. As per the budget, Rs. 400 crore has been sanctioned for the same by Akhilesh Yadav and it aims at benefitting 2 lakh families in 2016-17.
To be able to avail this scheme, the yearly income of the family must be less than Rs. 56,460 in urban areas and Rs. 46,080 in rural UP. The following list shows the amount sanctioned for various sects:
- Scheduled Caste: Rs. 121 crore for 60,5000 beneficiaries
- Scheduled Tribe: Rs. 1.30 crore for 650 beneficiaries
- General Category: Rs. 41.25 crore for 20,625 beneficiaries
- Backward Class: Rs. 154 crore for 77,000 beneficiaries
- Minority Class: Rs. 82.45 crore for 41,225 beneficiaries
