National Investigation Agency is investigating a host of terror cases which have occurred in the state. Mohammed Tanzeel became a household name in the recent past, after he was shot dead in Bijnor by two unidentified men. Mr Tanzeel was originally from the Border Security Force and had joined the NIA on deputation six years ago, soon after it was created. He was investigating the 2007 Wagamon SIMI arms training camp matter and cases against suspected ISIS sympathisers, sources said. The suspected murderers could be related to these cases.

It was a sad day for the entire state. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced financial assistance of Rs. 20 lakh for the family. The young CM was deeply affected by the incident and assured the family that the state government was with them in their hour of sorrow.

He also directed the director general of police to extend all cooperation to the agencies probing the incident that occurred early Sunday and facilitate investigations so that the culprits behind the heinous crime are brought to justice at the earliest.
