Uttar Pradesh the most populous state in India has been in the news recently for multiple achievements. It’s diversity in the field of education, technology, medical growth, culture, environmental, as well as social front as made it the first choice for industries. Thanks to the young and dynamic Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav the state has made bountiful leaps in the film industry too. During a recent award ceremony, a special mention was given to UP as being the most film-friendly state.
The state government expressed immense happiness and promised to promote the state as being film friendly. Vishal Kapoor of Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council shed light on the various policies being run by the Akhilesh Yadav lead government. He informed that the directors are very happy with the ambience in Uttar Pradesh and the recent change of perception towards the state has been due to the hard work of the UPCM.
The state has implemented the ‘more films, more employment’ formula and signed an MoU to establish two film cities within the state. This will increase the employment rate multifold along with giving a boost to the tourism industry. By the end of 2016, 2 films under the Salman Khan banner will be shot in the state. Some big names from the Bollywood and Hollywood industry are keen on shooting in the state which includes Kabir Khan, Aasif Kapadia, Ramesh Sippy, and Vidhu Vinod Chopra among others.
He also informed that soon Uttar Pradesh will see Shah Rukh Khan shooting for a film in the state. More than 150 directors have agreed to shoot in UP due to Akhilesh Yadav’s Film Policy 2015. A website as Film Bandhu has been launched stating the various terms for casting the state and the promotional stints for regional, national, and international cinema taken up by the government. Another thing that the script writers are looking forward to is a subsidy of Rs. 2,00,00,000 from the state government if they meet the criteria and the script is good.
Also, Akhilesh Yadav has declared a film festival in Lucknow to be organized every year to inculcate a healthy cinematic environment. The efforts by the state government and our CM are commendable and ensure success for the state.
