Mother’s Day, albeit a foreign concept but is observed by almost everyone in our country. But what is important it to take care of a mother throughout the year, not just on one day. And that is exactly what the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav, ensured this mother’s day. He inaugurated a kids’ cancer ward in King George Medical University. At the event, the young CM touched hearts when he said, “For a mother, what could be a better gift than her child’s good health.”

In order to give a big boost to the health facilities of the state, the paediatric cancer ward at KGMU became functional on 8th May, 2016. This section will have 50 beds and has been developed on PPP model by Helping Hand Trust. While inaugurating, the CM said, “Serving children is the best service one can do when it comes to serving humanity through health sector. Statistics show that cancer cases are increasing but treatment facilities are not growing at the same rate. Efforts are underway to improve treatment facility in Grakhpur, Saifai, Noida, and Lucknow.”

Yadav who was very close to his mother decided to do something for every mother
of Uttar Pradesh, after her sad demise at an early age. His initiative,
Samajwadi Pension Plan benefits all the women of our state. Apart from this,
seeing the busy schedules of the youngsters, the chief minister initiated
Samajwadi Shravan Yatra, where the old parents are taken on all expenses paid pilgrimages.

To achieve
great heights in life is considered lucky but to not forget your mother
reflects your conscience. Akhilesh Yadav strives to uplift the entire society
and that reflects his ‘Samajwadi’ ideologies!
