Due to consecutive years of scanty rainfall and hailstorms which destroyed crops, lives of millions of people in the Bundelkhand region were hit. As soon as this was informed to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, he immediately planned a visit to that region. Under his lieu, the state government is distributing relief materials to the people living in that area, and till the conditions don’t improve, The People’s CM has issued orders to continue the free monthly supply of basic amenities.
While in Bundelkhand, comprehending measures to improve the conditions in Bundelkhand, Akhilesh Yadav announced a new stadium and flyover for this area. These infrastructural additions will help the accessibility of the state and hence help will reach the people quicker.
“The Central government has provided us funds for relief but that is not enough. It is both state and Centre’s responsibility to take care of the drought situation in Bundelkhand,” Akhilesh Yadav said while distributing the goods to the farmers on his own. Earlier, he had ordered all district magistrates to begin relief measures and to ensure that no hunger-related deaths take place in the region. The young CM gave them strict orders to ensure that no hunger-related deaths should take place in Bundelkhand and that DMs would be held personally responsible for any such incident.
The Chief Minister also announced that every famine hit family will be given 10 kg wheat, 5 kg rice, 5 kg pulses, 25 kg potatoes, 5 litres regular and 1 litre refined oil along with 1 kg milk powder. Apart from this, he also laid the founding stone for a solar power to provide light and irrigation water to the farmers.
