Krishna Kumar, a 65-year-old typist, who earns about Rs. 50 a day by typing letters and CVs outside GPO, Lucknow was on the receiving end of the wrath of a sub-inspector. The inspector reportedly abused the elderly and kicked the typewriter till it broke into pieces, just because he refused to move his spot, where he had been sitting for the last 35 years. The episode was luckily captured by a passer-by journalist and pictures were floated on social media platforms.
This incident caught the eye of Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh when the pictures went viral on social media. He immediately suspended the sub-inspector, ensured that the SSP and DM Lucknow met Krishna, apologized for the behaviour and gifted him two typewriters. Out of which, Krishna returned one.
Akhilesh Yadav extended financial help to the family for Rs 2 Lakh and asked security personnel to provide him protection. The CM has requested the people to the state to provide help to Krishna, in whatever manner they can.
Akhilesh Yadav’s random acts of kindness truly restore our faith in humanity.
