Come December 1 and Lucknow will get its first glimpse of the revolutionary transport system! Preparations for the first set of Lucknow Metro Rail trial run are on in full swing due to UPCM Akhilesh Yadav’s personal attention. To ensure a smooth transition, LMRC and government officials are closely monitoring the newly-acquired silver and red coaches at the Transport Nagar Metro Depot. The entire area has been cordoned off from people trying to take pictures of the train; this shows how excited the people are!
This metro station also houses the country’s first environment-friendly Metro Workshop and Maintenance Depot. According to the officials, no vehicles will be allowed even outside the premises of the depot. All petrol or diesel work will be prohibited inside. The employees will have to come on a bicycle and electrical appliances will be battery or electrically operated. Solar panels have been installed on the roof of the depot which will supply electricity to all eight metro stations, under Phase I.
This workshop has the capacity to maintain and test 42 trains and will also be a first of its kind to have been equipped with a hazard-based safety system. Civil work on the Rs. 1069 crore of Phase 1 of the project called ‘priority section’ began on September 27, 2014. “We have completed the work in 26 months, which is a record for any metro rail project in the country,” claimed an LMRC official.
Since 2012, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed massive growth in infrastructure, technology, and holistic development across sectors. UPCM Akhilesh Yadav has truly given the state a make-over. Social Samajwadi is glad to share information about sustainable and swift completion of Lucknow Metro.
