The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav announced a host of measures to take care of the people in and around Bundelkhand. From distributing supplies to the families and giving Samajwadi Pension to setting up water tanks and hand pumps in the area, the list goes on. His government is distributing rice at Rs. 3/kg and wheat at Rs. 2/kg along with giving free ration to about 2 lakh poor people.
Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh government has taken steps to provide immediate relief in distress. Another such step is to set up drought monitoring cell to gather information on the drought situation in Bundelkhand and other regions of the state. Joint Secretary of Revenue Department, Raja Ram, will be appointed as the Chairman of the committee.
The cell will gather information on the drought situation as per the directives of National Disaster Management Authority and present it to the Chief Minister. Directives to deal with the drought situation have already been issued to divisional commissioners and district magistrates concerned. These measures will allow the government to frame better policies and avoid such situations in the future. Besides, toll-free number 1070 has been launched and control room has been set up at Relief Commissioner’s office. Another number where people can lodge complaints directly is 0522-2237515.
There will be a total of 11 people in the cell who will work on disaster management.
