Since birth, Halima is handicapped. She has no hands but her unshakeable courage has taken her to heights which many can only dream of. To make up for her missing limbs, Halima learnt how to use her feet instead, to do all her daily chores, including writing. At an early age, she learnt how to be independent and self-reliant.
Halima has faced hardships from an early age. When her parents took her for admission to primary school, the authorities refused her a spot because of her disability. But she did not let this affect her and started learning how to read and write, at home. Today, she is pursuing LLB.
When Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh heard about Halima, he was deeply impressed and invited her to his residence. The young CM and his wife, Dimple Yadav, MP from Kannauj decided to help her financially and promised her a government job in Kasturba University, in her village.
Halima was extremely touched by the People’s CM gratitude and was out of words to express her feelings. Akhilesh Yadav also requested her to demonstrate her skills, which she gladly did by writing with her feet. After this meeting, Halima is expecting her life to finally change for the better.
