Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh declared the year 2016-17 as the ‘Year of the Farmers’ in his budget speech. Many initiatives and schemes for their betterment and upliftment were sanctioned that day. One of the biggest announcements was about the provision of Rs. 1336 crore for payment of cane price arrear to farmers by 31st July.
He touched this topic at the Lakhimpur Kheri rally where he also announced 153 projects worth Rs. 873 crores including a four lane road connecting it to Sitapur. Apart from this, Akhilesh Yadav personally greeted the various beneficiaries of welfare schemes rolled out by his government. Lakhimpur Kheri has a great potential for exponential growth due to its strategic position, hence UPCM’s next move will to connect it to the rest of the state.
Akhilesh Yadav gives massive importance to infrastructure development. At the event, he said, “Learned people about economy say that America made roads and roads made America, thereby meaning that better roads meant greater progress and better economy.” Apart from this, he also shared his plans to ensure the water from Sharda canal reaches every farmer.
The highlight of the event was when Akhilesh Yadav distributed 50 laptops to meritorious students, Kanya Vidya Dhan to 20 young girls, cycles to 558 farmers, Samajwadi Pension plan money to 500 new recipients, Lohia Grameen Awaas to 10 beneficiaries, 46 e-rickshaws, 100 employment letters to young men and women for skill development training, and 350 uniforms to people selected in the police force.
UPCM also said that “Samajwadis believes strongly that only development can usher in prosperity and proress.” Social Samajwadi agrees with him!
