Uttar Pradesh is home to maximum population in the country with more than 200 million people. The geographic, cultural, and historical importance it holds makes it stand apart in all aspects. Even when it comes to politics, the state has produced the maximum number of leaders in the past. And that is why this question becomes more relevant: ‘Why has there not been adequate development in Uttar Pradesh?’ But this equation has changed since 2012. Today the state can boast of a metro and also of an IT City, a Medanta and an International Cricket Stadium, country’s largest Green
Expressway and multiple colleges, and so on. The rising happiness index is a true measure of prosperity of the people and hence, the state.
The people do not want stone parks and statues; they need better infrastructure, employment, health security, rural development, women safety, educational institutions, quick and effective governance. These are the focus agendas of Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh is working towards! If we talk about the current development scenario, Uttar Pradesh has huge investments from Amul, Mother Dairy, Samsung, LG, etc.
The farmers can enjoy free irrigation apart from many other schemes like Farmer Accident Insurance, Samajwadi Bima Card, Samajwadi Pension Plan, M-Sehat app, Loan Waiver which has helped more than 7,86,000 farmers so far.
The boost in the medical field under Akhilesh Yadav has seen phenomenal growth. The Uttar Pradesh government gives free treatment for incurable diseases, has extended the timeline for providing free medication, dialysis, ultrasound, and x-ray are also free for BPL holders.
The young CM has been a firm believer of educating the masses and this can be seen in the schemes brought about by him. Distributing Kanya Vidya Dhan, free laptops, introducing skill development initiatives, HCL training program and waiving off tuition fee for girls has resulted in a higher percentage of the state population going in for further studies which will help in better job opportunities.
UNESCO has awarded Uttar Pradesh an award for ‘Best State in Empowering Youth through Skill Development’. This has been possible due to multiple tie ups with MNCs like Maruti, HCL, and Dainik Jagran for skill training of the youth and making them ready to take on
better opportunities. While all this is happening in the state, on the other side the government has launched some excellent programs for women empowerment and security. These include the internationally acclaimed 1090 women power line, Dial 100, E-Police
stations, a women centric helpline in every single district, a dedicated ambulance service for women and the very prestigious Rani Laxmi Bai Awards for acknowledging their great work and achievements. Akhilesh Yadav has been doing all of this and more in the span of just four years; whereas
the previous government was busymaking plans for building moreand more concrete parks and statues. The lack of development in the state now, is only a myth now! And is it safe to say the cycle has left behind everyone else when it comes to development in Uttar Pradesh?
