The Jeevan Dhara Policy of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is run by the Journalist Welfare Society with an active financial aid of the UP government. Under this policy, all the journalists, which meet the LIC conditions, are benefitted. Whether they are working in print or electronic media, they will all be covered under this scheme.

Akhilesh Yadav, the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has started visionary schemes to benefit one and all and this is one of them. Keeping people across all sectors in mind, he expanded the Journalists’ Pension Scheme, for accredited as well as non-accredited media representatives.

In most of the states, only the state accredited media representatives are given the cover, but Akhilesh Yadav expanded it to cover a bigger section of this profession. He has often expressed his gratitude to the media for matters big and small, as they are the source of information for him, when it comes to the honest sentiments or problems of the people.

This welfare scheme for journalists will definitely lure the youth to join the media, which will only help in the overall upliftment of the state.
