Even though Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are due next year, political parties are leaving no stones unturned to turn the electoral tide towards them. These elections are of great importance to sway the country’s political scenario as Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state of the country and hence gets maximum representation in the Centre.
A prominent news channel held a survey yesterday, in lieu to know the preference of UP’s public. Here’s what the results looked like:

From the current poll results, we can see that Samajwadi Party is the current favourite of the people with BSP chief, Mayawati tailing behind Akhilesh Yadav. And the only thing to be considered while voting is the development done in the state, in the last 4.5 years; breaking the myth of UP’s caste based elections for the first time.
Akhilesh Yadav enjoys high favourable ratings with 61 percent of the voters expressing satisfaction with his performance as CM over the last four years and 60 percent being satisfied with the work done by the government he leads. This has been possible due to current CM’s transparent governance, humanitarian approach, and revolutionary projects which have changed the face of Uttar Pradesh.
Let us have a look at some of the development projects run by Akhilesh Yadav which have influenced the vote share:
Schemes like Kanya Vidya Dhan, laptop distribution, Power Line 1090, Mahila Bazaar etc. have empowered the women of the state like never before. They are more secure and confident. According to the stats, maximum working women are in Uttar Pradesh and they enjoy financial independence. From supporting their education to giving them a pension; Akhilesh Government has thought of it all. Dial 100 and Samajwadi Pension Scheme has turned out to be a boon for the women of the state.
Uttar Pradesh Government under Akhilesh Yadav has made the state a favourite investment hub for NRIs, multi-national companies, and young entrepreneurs. Schemes like Udhyog Bandhu, Nivesh Mitra, Pravasi Divas etc. have attracted investments of thousands of crores in the state and multiple projects under PPP model. CM’s Kamdhenu has made the state number one in dairy production.
Since 2012, there have been various initiatives and schemes launched to ensure that everyone can receive the best of the education without any discrimination. From improving ‘Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan’ to uplifting minorities and handicapped, Akhilesh Government has come up with novel plans which have been executed beautifully. To improve the education ratio, UPCM launched Kanya Vidya Dhan and Hamari Beti Uska Kal for girls. And on the other hand to make the best facilities available for the children of the state, he distributed free laptops to meritorious students. Multiple new engineering and medical colleges have been launched along with increasing polytechnic and medical seats in the state.
For Akhilesh Yadav, the development of Uttar Pradesh is of foremost importance. Hence, he has worked for an overall development of the state. From setting up an infrastructural base for the state to inviting investors to Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Minister has worked tirelessly to boost the infrastructure development of the state. State-of-the-art road, fly overs, infrastructure service, excellent medical facilities, and educational sectors have seen a complete makeover since 2012 under Samajwadi Party. ASSOCHAM has also declared that due to phenomenal infrastructure and schemes, Uttar Pradesh will soon achieve double-digit development.
Akhilesh Yadav became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 2012 and ever since has been relentlessly working on power development of the state. As a result, after just four and a half years the state can boast of multiple solar initiatives and power projects which are both effective and sustainable.
Along with the overall development of the state, Akhilesh Yadav has made environmental sustainability his priority. For environment conservation, UPCM introduced cycle tracks in multiple cities and distributed e-rickshaws; this has not only reduced the pollution levels in the state but at the same time provided employment to many. On the other hand, he has banned plastic bags to ensure the sustainable environment for our future generations.
This is due to hard work of Akhilesh Government that the forest cover of the state has constantly grown since 2012. As per Forest Survey of India’s report, in 2015 the forest-cover of UP increased by 112 kilometres. At the same time, green cover of the state increased by 261 kilometres.
Gomti River Front Development:
An initiative which ensures the residents of the state to enjoy cleaner and greener riverbank of Gomti. This project is underway by Akhilesh Government and spans across 12 km from Pukka Pull up to the Shaheed Path in Lucknow. Akhilesh Yadav has made the irrigation department the nodal agency for this three-phased project. There will be extensive cleaning of the riverbed and water flow will be regulated through river channelization. Beautification of the surroundings will be done by making walking plazas, cycling tracks, 2.5-metre wide jogging tracks, children play area, tonga track, etc.
“Providing best facilities to tourists, one of the priorities of the state government,” says Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The culture of Uttar Pradesh has its roots in the Hindi and Urdu literature, music, fine arts, traditions, drama, history, and cinema. The state is spotted with several beautiful historical monuments and multiple heritage sites. It is home to the finest food of the country and a confluence of religions. Since ancient and medieval times, it has given shelter to powerful empires and is one of the favourite tourist destinations in India. Akhilesh Yadav-led state government has restored the state’s allure by introducing multiple schemes in the last few years.
Akhilesh Yadav, the young chief minister of Uttar Pradesh has dedicated the budget 2016-17 to farmers and youth. This is also reflected in his new schemes and policies. From launching Sewa Yojan, an online portal to find employment in the state, to tripling the scholarship amount, a great deal is done and more is underway. It will be interesting to note that more than 4,000 different bank branches have been opened in the state since 2012.
Akhilesh Yadav has truly made the youth his government’s focus point with numerous opportunities for their skill development and vocational training. In 2015, the state government signed MoUs with Cafe Coffee Day, Bangalore, G4S Gurgaon, Super House Kanpur, etc. and exchanged documents under which 60,000 young men and women will be given vocational training. The Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Corporation signed a MoU to give priority to meritorious pass outs and provide them with job opportunities.
Sewa Yojan Portal:
The Employment Department has come up with a website Sewa Yojan portal (www.sewayojan.up.nic) which will help people to find a job and when it does, it will notify you via an e-mail or an SMS, courtesy Akhilesh Yadav. The person will be required to only register on the website to find jobs in private and public sector.
Sewa Yojan was inaugurated by Labour and Employment Minister, on 3rd April 2016. Initially, the website would only get registrations of unemployed citizens of the state, but now thanks to Akhilesh Yadav’s visionary thinking people can now register with their qualifications and see the various job openings, as per their eligibility.
HCL Technologies, the country’s fourth largest IT Company has declared Lucknow to be the next IT hub in the country. The IT City in Uttar Pradesh is spread across 100 acres with an investment of Rs. 1,500 crore. The initial training facilities will provide employment to 25,000 people, with 50% of them being reserved for women. The IT City development project is often called the Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav’s ‘dream project’, who focuses on empowering the youth of the state by overcoming the digital divide and creating new institutions for skill development.
The Uttar Pradesh Government under Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is running multiple schemes for Rural Development to boost the economic growth, infrastructural development, and human development index. The HDI in the last few years, under Samajwadi Party, has gone up and it is a clear indication of people’s welfare, thanks to the thoughtfulness of UP Chief Minister.
And the list of development projects can go on and on.
No wonder, Akhilesh Yadav has emerged with flying colours in the pre-election survey!
