On 30th May, 2016 at Kaushambi, Akhilesh Yadav decided to promote it as the next tourist hub in the state, after Varanasi, Agra, Lucknow, and other places. The young Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh understands the importance of tourism and has taken numerous steps to boost it. Since 2012, the state has seen some tourism friendly initiatives like Sarus Day, car rallies, UP Travel Mart; all to promote the state.
While laying the foundation stones for 40 development projects worth Rs. 1072 crore in Kaushambi, Akhilesh Yadav guaranteed the people to uplift the district and make it a popular tourist hub. He has directed the concerned officials to look into the restoration of Ma SheetlaDham, KhwajaKadak Shah, MalookSthal, Utkhanan Sthal Kaushambi Pabhosha, Alwara Lake, Ram Joitha, Charwa, and Sandeepan Ashram. The CM will be closely monitoring it, personally.
Apart from these, the ground water table would be improved by ponds and other water resources. Also, Karari Nagar Panchayat is to be developed as a model panchayat with 8 college buildings. Kaushambi has great history as being the base for Mahabharat and Ramayana, and being Gautam Budhha’s loved spot. Thanks to Akhilesh Yadav, its glory will be restored and Kaushambi will be one of UP’s tourist hubs.
