The abundance of education and skill development opportunities, vast fertile lands, human resource, investment-friendly policies, improved transport network, and sufficient power makes Uttar Pradesh an ideal choice for hassle-free investment. The state has grown into a major industrial hub of the country, in the last few years. On 31st August, 2016 another name was added to the long list of investors. Micromax, one of the largest domestic companies has signed a MoU with Akhilesh Yadav to set up their mobile phone manufacturing unit in Greater Noida.

From April 2012 to January 2016, Uttar Pradesh received a total private investment worth over Rs 25,081 crore. At the UP investors’ conclave held last year in Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said, “I want to call you to invest in UP and I will give all the facilities.” He was showcasing brand UP to the world. The UP government under Akhilesh Yadav is striving to create an investment-conducive environment in the state and large investments are presenting the way for the next phase of growth.

In the last 4 years, under Akhilesh Government, Uttar Pradesh has seen investments from the biggest brands wishing to make the state their home.

Micromax plans to invest Rs. 210 crore in its first phase by setting in its 17-acre unit in Uttar Pradesh. A policy for mobile manufacturing companies to be set up under Mobile Manufacturing Cluster was drawn out by a joined meeting with Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Agency (YEIDA), and UP Chief Secretary Deepak Singhal. At present, Uttar Pradesh leads the way with a manufacturing capacity of 9 million handsets.

Today, a team from OPPO, a global electronics and technology service provider that manufactures and delivers mobile electronic devices in over 20 countries will be conducting an inspection of the proposed sites to set up their unit in Uttar Pradesh. If all goes well, the initial investment will be Rs. 1000 crore for the 150-acre site. The final decision will be taken after seeing the infrastructure and connectivity provided by Akhilesh Government. Apart from being a great investment for the state, this step will also present unmatchable opportunities for the youth of the state.

The Chief Secretary said that about 5,000 jobs will be directly created in Micromax unit and another 30,000 with OPPO. Similarly, uncountable indirect job avenues will also crop up in the state soon. “The idea is to bring in as many units as possible under the EMCs so that both areas become a mobile manufacturing hub for big-ticket investors. Till now we were only assembling the components, now companies will manufacture handsets and their components. Once the manufacturing companies are established here, we will also be able to establish research & development as well as skill development centres. This will in turn provide employment to local youth, which will help boost development besides bringing in huge investment. Under the guidance of the Chief Minister, the government is leaving no stone unturned in wooing foreign and domestic investments,” he added.

Social Samajwadi would like to congratulate the state on this feat, which has been possible only due to Akhilesh Yadav’s untiring efforts.
