Akhilesh Yadav said, “We will create a green legacy,” and since then has been working towards achieving it. Uttar Pradesh has seen numerous initiatives to make it cleaner and greener since 2012. These include two record winning plantation drives, installation of solar plants, distribution of e-rickshaws, ban on polythene and making of cycle tracks and highways by the Green CM.

As a part of ‘Clean UP, Green UP’ campaign Muzzafarnagar adopted a unique method of making the people aware about sustainable methods for their day to day activities. Under this initiative, quotes and messages on environment conservation by great personalities were painted on walls. Messages on patriotism and society were also included to motivate the people towards becoming more conscious of their surroundings.

The project has been launched to ensure a greener atmosphere and to make people realize the advantages of the same. The entire district is also being cleaned to set an example for ‘Clean UP, Green UP’. This is being done after ‘Hindon River Rejuvenation’ scheme was initiated by Akhilesh Yadav in Muzzafarnagar. It is a transformational program to clean River Hindon that originates in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.  The river is a tributary of Yamuna and flows through Saharanpur, Muzzafarnagar, and Meerut.

Uttar Pradesh government and ‘2030 Water Resources Group’ have worked out a comprehensive approach to revive the rivers as a part of Akhilesh Yadav’s ‘Clean UP Green UP’ campaign. This state-wide partnership focuses on developing solutions through consultation with empowered stakeholders. The Water Resources Group is a public-private-civil society partnership which is working with Akhilesh government with an aim of ensuring water resources management for long term development and economic growth of the state.

Social Samajwadi is confident that the entire country will take a lesson from this and work on an improved green cover.
