28th April, 2016 saw yet another great initiative by the Uttar Pradesh police – Operation Milan. This project will run for 15 days and try to unite abducted youths and minors with their families. The government lead by Akhilesh Yadav sympathises with families who face such loss and want to try and help them out. Satish Ganesh, IG Lucknow (Zone A) is leading this operation which will be run in 11 districts of the Lucknow Zone.

Directives have been issued to all the police stations where kidnapping or missing cases are pending. “We have launched Operation Milan in Lucknow zone to safely recover those youths- girls and boys – and minors who have been abducted. We aim to recover them and ensure they meet their families again,” said Ganesh, at the launch. ‘Operation Milan’ will require the police personnel to meet the concerned families and get all the details again. An aggressive search will then ensue to make sure that the victims are recovered safely.

After 15 days, a review will be conducted, with the help of the family members, and the officials performing well will be awarded and serious action will be taken against those showing laxity. There
have been installations of proper surveillance systems and extra CCTV in the areas to monitor the movement of the people.

So far, 2 young boys have already been returned to the safety of their homes in Hardoi. Akhilesh Yadav’s team will definitely execute a successful ‘Operation Milan’; we wish them all the luck!
