Lucknow got the first glimpse of its metro service when the trail run of the Lucknow Metro Rail was flagged off on Thursday, 1st December 2016 by UPCM Akhilesh Yadav and Party Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. The test run took off from the elevated priority section of the Transport Nagar Metro Depot, near Amausi airport in Lucknow. From being driven by women pilots to having high-tech features, the Metro has been creating news!

The commercial use of Lucknow Metro is scheduled to start by March 2017 and to ensure that the experience of every single passenger is memorable, LMRC has hired 26 customer relation assistants (CRAs). These young trainees are being trained for the last 6 months to ensure impeccable assistance to the travellers. The CRAs will help with any information regarding the metro and will be a single contact point for the travellers. From getting the smart card recharged to helping senior citizen board the train; from buying a token to helping people on the lift or elevator, these enthusiastic youngsters will be at your service.

LMRC deputy chief operations manager Shishir Somvanshi said, “For six months, they have been rigorously trained to be of best help to people while on duty. They can’t say no to anybody as this is the first ethic they should follow in Lucknow Metro. We have tied up with a popular air hostess training academy in Lucknow to impart them the best of soft-skills, communication, customer service and how to present themselves. The CRAs carry a huge responsibility as they would have to deal with public daily.”

Pratibha, the woman train operator, said, “The most challenging part of my job is that I need to be extremely attentive while driving a Metro as around 1,200 people would be relying on me in the train. I carry responsibility of their lives and safety, which is a moral concern.” Vishal Nath, a CRA, said, “We have to deal with different types of people daily. They could be angry, curious or hassled over something or the other but we have to always be calm. We have been taught to deal with all kinds of psychology and resolve problems patiently.”
