On 25th July, 2016 Akhilesh Government issued a press release informing the people of the next Samajwadi Shravan Yatra to the Golden Temple, Amritsar. This facility was launched by Akhilesh Yadav in 2015 and has so far executed 8 successful pilgrimages. This free of cost trip can be availed by any aged resident of Uttar Pradesh who fulfil the criteria.
The special train to Amritsar left from Lucknow’s Charbagh railway station on 8th August 2016 courtesy IRCTC and the pilgrimages will cover Jaliya Walla Bagh, Wagha Border along with the golden temple. A total of 787 passengers were welcomed with garlands and other festive arrangements which included dhol and refreshments. Each coach has a guide which will look after the needs of the travellers throughout the trip.
A new helpline has been launched where people can enquire about the passengers or resolve any queries. It can be reached at 0522-2992932 or 09196042365. The Samajwadi Shravan Yatra include all the necessary facilities like breakfast, lunch, dinner, medical aid, daily kits, local sightseeing, amongst other things.
Last week, saw a similar departure from Varanasi of 1044 pilgrimages as part of a journey to Dwarika, Somnath, and Nageshwar.
