Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has done a number of reforms to improve the overall health of the state. From making treatment free for incurable diseases to launching country’s largest ambulance fleet, multiple schemes have been initiated by the Uttar Pradesh Government under his leadership.
Samajwadi Party-led government in UP has decided to launch an integrated state nutrition mission, ‘Hausla Poshan Yojna’. It will be aimed at providing nutritious food to pregnant women and malnourished children from June 20th, 2016. And this is not it! To monitor the effective working and better monitoring, the young CM has adopted one village in Shravasti district under this scheme. Akhilesh Yadav also hopes that the Chief Secretary will adopt a village in Bahraich.
As per Hausla Poshan Yojna proper cooked food and fruits will be provided to children aged 7 months to 3 years along with expecting mothers. So far, 7,843 villages have been adopted under this mission. To make people more aware, Akhilesh Yadav has also decided to include nutrition as a subject in curriculum of Basic Education session from academic year 2016-17. This initiative will make young educators better equipped with information to pass onto children in school, who in turn will play a major role in uplifting the overall health of the state.
Another feather in our government’s hat is the inclusion in Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN). It is a worldwide leading organization which strengthens initiatives to improve nutrition levels across the globe. After Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh is the only other state in India to be a part of this organization along with 57 other countries.
Social Samajwadi hopes people become more aware and responsible towards such sensitive issues.
