The dwindling monsoons in the state and the constant rise in population has lead the Akhilesh Government to organize many novel promotions for Van Mahotsav. The event started on 1st of July and saw the plantation of 1100 saplings in Lucknow. At the occasion people were present in huge numbers and the Chief Guest was Forest Minister, Durga Prasad Yadav. He said, “This event has been organized by the state government to make the state greener and pollution-free. It is an important link in afforestation and inculcating love in the citizens for trees and plants”, apart from educating people about the benefits of this act.

In 2015, during Van Mahotsav almost 5 crore plants were planted in the entire state. This will lead to an immense Carbon bank for the future generation in about 20 years. This year the Forest Department is hoping to double this number by the end of the month.

Social Samajwadi requests the citizens of Uttar Pradesh to come together and help Akhilesh Government in achieving their goals.
