Unnao, a district in Uttar Pradesh, has been in the news for all the right reasons, in the recent past. The district magistrate to the superintendent of police and from CMO to CDO, everyone is painting the town pink bringing in the winds of change. If you haven’t guessed it already, Unnao has become the state’s first district with an all-woman team heading the administrative board.

The credit for this goes to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav who has been diligently working towards social welfare activities and upbringing women of the state. He also said, “…this reflects that women can also achieve whatever they desire,” further encouraging women to excel in whatever field they choose. This is also reflected in the various programs running in Uttar Pradesh.

People all over, especially in Unnao, are loving the all-women board, many of them calling the district to be “lucky and blessed” “It is natural that women-related issues will take centre stage. They will be effectively addressed,” said zila panchayat head Sangeeta Sengar.

We hope other states take a lesson from this and respect women as much as our CM who believes “women have a very big and important role in a society and that without progress of women, prosperity cannot be ushered in.”
