Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has taken some massive steps towards road safety in the state. After launching the Road Safety Cell the UP Government has come up with some reforms to ensure that the traffic rules are being adhered to. The young CM has always been strict about such things and this initiative only reiterates the fact. From now on, if someone is found honking their horns constantly during red signals or traffic jams in the state, the police will take strict action towards them.
This step is being taken by the Akhilesh government and UP Police to curb the rising noise pollution and constant complains received due to such inconvenience. If someone is caught honking incessantly, they will have to pay a hefty fine of Rs. 1100 or their vehicle will be seized. The traffic police officers have been asked to take immediate action. This rule will not just hold true for private vehicles, it will be extended to government cars as well. A circular has been sent to government officials to remove pressure horns, if they fail to do so, the vehicle will be seized.
This is not it! According to UPPCB generated pollution report, silence zones will be established across the state. These will mostly be around schools, hospitals, and other public spots. First and foremost, it will be implemented in Lucknow as a pilot project. Any vehicle with a horn greater than 100 decibel will be fined.
