On a Saturday night, three sisters, Upma, Rohini, and Santoshi were having a good time with their mother in Lakhimpur Khiri when they were abducted at gun point by 6 unidentified men. We can only imagine the plight of the family!

The family approached the police after they received a ransom call of Rs. 50 lakh and a search party was formed. The worried parents contacted the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav, who has a reputation of helping people in need, for further assistance.

“The CM called us on Monday morning and assured that our girls will be rescued within 24 hours,” Rambali Gupta, the father, said. And so it was. After the call, the CM immediately instructed for an increased police force to look into the matter. The operation lasted 72 hours before the girls were found being held captive in a forest, nearby.

“The sisters, have been rescued and handed over to their parents while the operation to nab the abductors in the jungles was on,” said Akhilesh Yadav after the statement. The daughters were reunited with their parents who sighed with relief and thanked Akhilesh Bhaiya.
