A group of Buddhist nuns belonging to Druk Amitabha Mountain nunnery started a 2,200 km cycle expedition from Kathmandu. They wish to spread awareness about issues pertaining to women security and to make people environment-friendly. The group started cycling from Kathmandu and covered Gorakhpur, Gaya, Patna, Rajgir, Varanasi, Allahabad, Kanpur, Agra, and finally came to a halt in Delhi.
In Kanpur, they were greeted by Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh who ardently supports cycling and other benefits related to it. He not only flagged off the expedition for the nuns but also rode a bicycle with them. The People’s CM wished the nuns good luck for the onward journey and requested the people to take a lesson from the Buddhist nuns.
This humbling gesture by the People’s CM was appreciated by the nuns from Nepal.
