Last year, the winters took everyone by surprise. Just when the people were rejoicing a not so chilly weather, the state was hit by a sudden cold wave. This lead to a lot of discomfort to the unprepared population. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav who has always been ready to tackle problems, was quick in his thinking and instructed the Forest Corporation to arrange for measures across the state, to curb the cold.

Taking a cue from this experience, Akhilesh Yadav has decided to step in and ensure that no one has to suffer because of the coming weather, beforehand. On 7th November, the CM sanctioned Rs. 18.81 crore for poor and homeless ahead of the winter. Such measures will help the people deal with the cold wave which has already started to hit the state.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has issued instructions to provide assistance to the poor, destitute, and homeless. He has directed the officials to distribute blankets to the needy and ensure heating arrangements wherever necessary. The funds for the same have already been released and the above-mentioned tasks will be executed.

Keeping in mind the problems faced during past winters, every tehsil has been given five lakh rupees for purchase of blankets for the poor. A sum of Rs. 17.10 crore alone was earmarked for blanket distribution in 342 tehsils. Another sum of Rs. 50,000 was provided to each of these areas to arrange heating arrangements at public places, and a total of Rs 1.71 crore was sanctioned for the purpose.
