24th April, 2016 was a happy day for residents of Allahabad. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav visited their town to meet the people and understand their problems. He was greeted by a cultural show put up by Jagat Taaran Girls Inter College and was so impressed by their performance that he announced a special award for them.
At the event, he said, “The Samajwadi Party has tried to improve the conditions of the state and have given it a makeover by overcoming all the difficulties.” The young chief minister was addressing the crowd at an air strip in the Trans-Yamuna region and laid the foundation stone and inaugurated schemes worth Rs. 324 crore. On hearing these schemes the people were overjoyed because they could all envision a better life for themselves and their families, under the Akhilesh Yadav-led government.
Some of the key announcements were total compensation for the farmers to make up for the lost produce due to bad weather and free water for irrigation. At the event, the chief minister also educated the women about their social welfare rights and distributed Samajwadi Pension to the beneficiaries. Kanya Vidyadhan was given to all the girls who qualified for it along with distributing 200 cycles as part of Cycle Sahayta Yojna. A total of 665 beneficiaries came forward for multiple schemes which included BSUP, Lohia Awaas etc.
Major projects of the state government in the last 4 years have included a high-tech city, beautification of civil lines and Chandra Shekhar Park, the inauguration of a state university in the Allahabad district. And this trip promises Allahabad to get a complete makeover.
