Uttar Pradesh has been trending in Bollywood as one of the most ‘Film Friendly State’ in the country after getting a special mention at 63rd National Awards Ceremony. Thanks to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s comprehensive policies and incentives, the state received international recognition at Cannes, as well. Festival De Cannes is a star studded annual international film festival held every year at France.
In 2016, this festival is being held from 11th to 22nd May and is one of the most popular platforms to showcase the finest in the industry. It was at this event that Vishal Kapoor, a famous Bollywood director appreciated the film policies made by Akhilesh Yadav. He told everyone present about how this framework has supported the entire Bollywood along with the subsidies offered by the Uttar Pradesh government.
Also the state government promoted its cinema policy at the Indian Pavilion of the festival with a three-member delegation. A team of renowned personalities represented the state at their first ever film festival. UP Film Development Council, Vice-chairman, Gaurav Dwivedi said, “We have received interest from film makers based in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, UK and China to shoot their films in UP. Australian film maker Christopher Simon has shown interest to shoot a period film set around 1950s in Lucknow and Kanpur. UK based Shirali Le Mercier, Emilia Wileman and Canada’s Mahi Kaur will shoot their films in Varanasi.”
Such initiatives by Akhilesh Yadav will result in an overall development of the state. On one hand, it will create more employment opportunities and on the other will generate more revenue for the state. Social Samajwadi would like to thank the young CM for making Uttar Pradesh a ‘Film Bandhu’.
