Going hi-tech, the Uttar Pradesh government under the young CM, Akhilesh Yadav, has already launched mobile apps to lodge an FIR or to call for help, in case of emergency. This has improved the transparency of the officials and allows people to keep a track of their complaints. Taking this ahead, Uttar Pradesh will, very soon, have paperless police stations or e-police stations.
The Digital CM has decided to launch the pilot e-station in Lucknow. The state government had started Crime and Criminical Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) which will make all the reports online and link various police stations and units through the internet. In these police stations, you can file a complaint online and the status of it will be informed to you through e-mail. In time, forensic reports, charge-sheet, crime details, and arrest form will also be accessible in a few key strokes. Such initiatives have also opened job opportunities for data operators. The police officials are being trained and made aware of the working of the system.
Akhilesh Yadav said “Development of any state is not possible without technology.” And we all agree!
