Social networking connects people across the world but in this particular incident, it led to the recovery of huge amounts of black money. Everyone knows that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav, is extremely active on social media platforms. So, the tip-off about the transported cash was sent to the Digital CM on his Whatsapp.
Akhilesh Yadav immediately alerted the police officials about the message, which said that two vehicles with Uttarakhand registration numbers were being used to transport a lot of cash from Haridwar to Lucknow. As soon as the police personnel received the forwarded message, they got to work.
The two cars were nabbed in Bareilly after almost a 70 km chase. One of the cars sported a red beacon and the number plate was addressed to the BSP leader, Anjum Begum. Former BSP MLA, Mohammad Shahjad, was travelling in the car. In the other vehicle, a property dealer, Sattar was caught, who claimed that the money was for a property deal, which later was found out to be a false claim.
Akhilesh Yadav was kept updated about the entire situation through social media till the men were taken in for questioning. This was a scam of around 1.01 crore which got saved by the intuitive CM who quickly took action, without wasting a moment.
