14th February, 2016 was celebrated as Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Day, for the first time ever. This initiative was taken up by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav. It was done to propagate tourism and to make people feel more connected to the beautiful heritage of the state.

Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has decided to celebrate this as a three-day event, starting on 14th February 2016. Thanks to Akhilesh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh is second in terms of domestic and third in terms of foreign tourists. The State Tourism Day will help this and also encourage local travellers to visit places within the state.

These three days are going to be full of fun activities to attract tourists from all around the globe. The festival was flagged off by Hot Air Balloon Ride and followed by a Vintage Car Rally, in Lucknow. Akhilesh Yadav was there throughout the day to meet and interact with people. He also launched Nature Arc for promoting eco-tourism activities.

Chhatar Manzil was also restored to its lost glory with an exhibition and a cultural evening lighting up the venue. A play, directed by Muzaffar Ali, showcased the beauty of Lord Krishna. The People’s CM who has actively been showcasing the tourism capacity of the state has announced lots of events for the next three days; from a Mughlai Food Festival in Lucknow to a Meerut Haat at Nauchandi Grounds, to demonstrate the rich heritage of the state.
